Why must SMART1000LCD Digital Tripp Lite
I purchased this less than a year ago to protect a marine aquarium with about $800 of livestock in it. We had a power surge while on vacation and came home to the worst smell in the world and all of my saltwater fish, coral and invertebrates dead. No lightning strike, etc, the UPS just failed to come back on when the power bumped so my filter pumps stopped working. Nothing else in the house was affected.
When I first put in the RMA request via the Tripplite website, I never heard back for over a month until I called them and have been going back and forth for the last few days. Long story short, NOTHING is covered except hardware and that is only if the hardware is shorted out or failed due to the UPS failure. So basically, all i get for my trouble is a replacement UPS, which is useless to me since I cannot use it for the aquarium.
