I took an instant dislike to the title character, and the more I read, the less I liked him. It is easy to see the appeal to a certain age group: the kid is smart, he has resources, and he has his own private goon squad to sic on anyone who displeases him. The author has created a sociopathic little monster with the moral compass of a pit viper. Great role model for the younger set! Every once in a while, the author tries to insert something to make us like Artemis better. He loves his mommy – so have most of the serial killers in real life. Now and then he questions (sort of) what he is doing, then he goes ahead and does it anyways. His victims in the first book are the fairies, and I give the author credit for a nice take on the little people – I was rooting for them all the way. If it hadn’t been for this imaginative portrayal, I would have been looking for a way to give this book a negative star rating. The story is well written, which makes the subject matter even more appalling. I will not be purchasing any more books in the series.

I bought this wireless router for a small home network. It took a while to set up — an hour or so initially and then a week’s worth of tweaking — but now it’s working relatively reliably.

PROS:
- It’s an n router, so it has at least the potential to be as fast as your wired connection.
- Aesthetically, it looks decent.
- Compatible with both Windows and Macs.
- For Windows computers, setup is probably pretty simple (so long as you don’t want to fully customize the install) since the router comes with an easy install CD.
- The range is good. I have strong signal throughout my apartment and a good distance outside it as well.
- For the technology, the price is great.
- Nice options for security, whether you want firewalls or encryptions, etc.

CONS:
- For Mac users: It’s compatible, but you’ll have to go through manual setup, the steps for which aren’t yet up on the Trendnet site. For either platform, though, just plug your modem into the router’s WAN port, plug the computer into one of the router’s LAN ports, then type 192.168.10.1 into your browser’s address bar to take you to the manual setup.
- The router disconnected too frequently for my tastes (say, two or three times a day, at least) when I had its n capabilities enabled. The speed was great, but the disconnects weren’t worth it. After restricting it to b and g only, the disconnects stopped. While the drop in speed is hardly significant, it is something to keep in mind.
- Constantly blinking green lights on the front are a bit annoying if you keep the router facing you.
TRENDnet 300Mbps Wireless N

We bought this router over others because we read that it was more reliable over longer distances. It works fine, we have a single story 3300 sq ft home. The router is in my office in the middle of the house. We get a strong single at both ends of the house.

Setup was fine, had it working within an hour, we have 3 laptops running XP.

4 stars instead of 5 for features because it would have been nicer if it were dual band.

I enjoyed reading this book and fell in love with the characters! The story was great and such an eye opener for me of a time that isn’t too far off in our country’s history. Thank you, Kathryn Stockett, for such a great book!

I am an 85 year old independent woman and have been an avid reader my entire lifetime. I was recently diagnosed with macular degeneration and found myself unable to enjoy one of my favorite pastimes because of the impairment to my eyesight. I had been relegated to the large print section of the local library where the selection is limited at best. Even with the large print, I had issues with adequate lighting and glare impacting my vision when reading. That was until I received the Kindle as a gift from my children.
The Kindle has returned to me my favorite pastime. The ability to adjust the print size is just the beginning of the liberation. The glare control on the screen allows me to read in any light. The home page is easily navigated and completely manageable for me. Now I have the world of books at my fingertips with the Whispernet technology – it is better than the library.
I would recommend this product to any and all who enjoy reading and want the convenience of “at your fingertips portability”.Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6″ Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)
The only improvement I can think of is to enlarge the on/off switch and possibly use a different type toggle. It is the only part of the Kindle I have trouble managing, and sometimes causes me to lose battery life.

Clean n Dry Waterproof

I read the reviews about the accuracy and also the difficulty with activating, but I went ahead and ordered it, thinking that they had probably fixed the activating issues. After I put the batteries in, it calibrated and I was able to step on several times with different things I was holding to test the accuracy. It was great! However, I couldn’t get it activated after that, no matter what I tried. I watched the youtube video with the guy that shows how to ‘tap’ it. I tried that and nothing happened. I contacted the company and they were VERY responsive and will be sending me their newer version of the scale where you just have to stand on it. I am very impressed with their responsiveness! I’m looking forward to getting the new scale.
